Tom Manchester

October 8, 1934 — August 17, 2019

Tom “T.J.” Manchester went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2019. He was born in Grangeville, Louisiana on October 8th, 1934 to Tom and Kate Manchester and is survived by his four children, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.  T.J. was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Souder Manchester, father Tom Manchester Sr. and mother Kate Kirkland Manchester, brother Alton Jones, sister Irma Higgins, sister Willie Moore, sister Maudie Carey, sister Katie Creole, sister Claire Villeneuve, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. He was the beloved husband of the late Mildred S. Manchester for 55 years. In those years they built a strong family legacy that is carried on by their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was the father of four children: daughter Judy Wilson and husband Keith Cutrer, daughter Lora Smith, daughter Cathy and Sal DiMaggio, and son Jeff and Sharon Manchester. He was the grandfather of Christina Wilson, David Wilson, Jonathon Wilson, Jared Wilson, Steven Atkinson, Kelli Bolton, Samantha Doyle, Tony DiMaggio, Jeffrey Manchester, Sara Haws, Blaine Manchester, and McKensie Manchester. Great-Grandfather to Alyssa Bolton, Briana Wilson, Cara Wilson, Micah Wilson, Toby Bueche, Tracen Haws, Layton Haws, Hayden Doyle, Maci Doyle, Presley DiMaggio, and Bella Nelson. As the patriarch of a closely knit family he will be greatly missed. T.J. grew up in Grangeville and attended Greensburg High school where he met his wife, Mildred.  T.J. and Mildred were married in July 30, 1953 and lived in Baton Rouge before settling in Folsom where he lived for twenty-one years. T.J. worked longest at Fidelity bank, then Rabenhorst Funeral Home, and Seale Funeral Home. Also as a part time job while raising his kids he worked for LSU selling tickets for sports. However, his family was the pride of his life and being the husband of Mildred was his greatest joy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his wake on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm and his funeral on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with visitation from 9-11am and funeral at 11am. Both services will be held at First Baptist Church of Folsom. Flowers may be sent to First Baptist Church of Folsom, 13320 Broadway St., Folsom LA 70437. Bagnell Funeral home is entrusted with the arrangements.
