Richard “Richie” Joseph Thibodeaux aka “Blue”

Richard Joseph Thibodeaux of Abita Springs, LA passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the age of 76.  Richard was born in New Orleans at the Montelepre Hospital on December 8, 1942 to the late George Henry Thibodeaux Jr. and Elizabeth Driscoll Thibodeaux.  He graduated from the Academy of Sacred Heart High School with the class of 1960, and from Loyola University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Commercial Science.  He owned and operated Thibodeaux Brothers, Inc. for over 40 years.  Upon retirement, Richie owned and operated Juan’s bar in St. Bernard Parish, at which he spent many happy years and watched many LSU games, of which he was a lifelong fan!  He will be greatly missed by friends and family alike.  Beloved husband of 55 years to Barbara Myers Thibodeaux.  Father of James George Thibodeaux (Debbie), Sandra Thibodeaux Badinger (David) and Elizabeth Thibodeaux Buras (Gene).  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren – James George Thibodeaux, Jr. (Nicole), Hunter Thibodeaux (Kellie), Christian Thibodeaux, Cameron Badinger, Collin Badinger, Beau Buras and Carter Blue Buras (Lil Richie), and two great grandchildren – James George Thibodeaux III (Trey) and Jordan Thibodeaux.  He was preceded in death by his brother George Henry Thibodeaux III (Tookie) and sister-in-law Carol Thibodeaux.  He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews that he loved as his own. He will be remembered for his quick smile, infectious laugh and his willingness to help anyone in need.

Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial service on Saturday September 28, 2019 in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 N. Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435 at 12:00 noon, with visitation from 10:00 to 12:00.
