Marcel David

Marcel Lloyd David, Sr., 75, of Mandeville, LA, previously a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 32 years, passed away on January 8, 2021.  He was born in New Orleans, LA on October 13, 1945.  Marcel graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1964 and attended Dominican College for two years.  Marcel is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Deanna Lenain David, daughters Yvette David Pacaccio and Monique David, son Marcel Lloyd David, Jr. and his grandson Brendan Joseph David.  Marcel was preceded in death by his mother Delores Cook David, his father Lloyd Etienne David and his sister Sandra David Kuhn.

Marcel had a long career of fifty-four years in law enforcement serving the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s office and New Orleans Police Department.  His law enforcement career started with the New Orleans Police Department in 1966 and he joined the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s office in 1984.  He served as a ranking officer and commander of the Detective Bureau, SWAT, Narcotics Division, Street Crimes and several other divisions during his time with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s office.  Marcel remained a reserve officer in St. Bernard Parish until his death.  Additionally, he served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for six years.

He was a member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge in Arabi, LA as well as the Jerusalem Shriners of New Orleans.  He was passionate about his grandson, Brendan, his dog, NOLA, hunting and fishing.
