Juanita DiMartino

March 27, 1946 — June 4, 2022

Juanita Marie DiMartino passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 4, 2022, warmly surrounded by her innermost circle of loved ones, two-legged and four.  Juanita was born in New Orleans, LA on March 27, 1946, at Southern Baptist Hospital. Throughout her life, Juanita was a resident of New Orleans, Chalmette, and Mandeville, Louisiana. She attended various public and private schools in Orleans Parish, graduating from Warren Easton High School in 1965.  Juanita was a proud alumnus of John Jay Beauty College, Class of 1966.  In addition to mastering the craft of the beautician, Juanita engaged in diverse artistic endeavors and vocations, including homemaker, professional “radio player” (she was affectionately known as the Domestic Goddess of Chalmette to WEZB listeners), photographer’s assistant for Nicolay Photography, wardrobe technician for the New Orleans Opera, and investor/security guard for Hollywood South filming. But the role in life she prized above all was being a passionate, selfless, seemingly inexhaustible care-giver for her family.

Left to cherish Juanita's memory and legacy is her only daughter, Dina Marie DiMartino (fiancé Michael Seth Young).  She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 31 years, Nicholas DiMartino Jr.; her mother, Frances Rita Espinosa Nicolay; and her brother, David Bernard Nicolay.

A private inurnment will be held at St. Patrick #1 on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Juanita's wide circle of friends and loved ones are invited to join us afterward for a remembrance gathering at The Deano Center, 9069 W. Judge Perez Dr., Chalmette, LA 70043, from 4-6pm.  We can think of no better way to honor and celebrate Juanita than by coming together to share our stories of her, and weaving new bonds with one another's shared memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
