On Monday September 7th, 2020, Ethel Fitzgerald, loving mother, Granny and GG passed away at the age of 81.
Ethel was born on September 2nd, 1939 to Hubert and Mary Louise Tycer. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Southeastern Louisiana University. She married Joel Fitzgerald on April 20th, 1961. They raised four children, Joel, Brett, Shannon and Jeff.
Ethel was accepted into LSU Medical School, but chose to be a homemaker instead. She raised her children with great love and care. She cared for her husband until his death. She then helped in raising her grandchildren. But her greatest passion was her love for Jesus. She taught Sunday school, and Bible studies in nursing homes for most of her life. Every morning she could be found on her knees, spending time with God. Her legacy of faith will be passed down to future generations.
Ethel was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, and her brothers James and Paul. She is survived by her children, their spouses Angie, Caryn, Grace and Matt, her grandchildren Emily, Heather, Matthew, Olivia, Eryn, Brenna, Sean, Ian, Tycer and Evie, and her great grandchildren Maverick and Magnolia, her brother Hubert Tycer and her nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437, Covington, Louisiana 70435 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Interment to follow in the Barker McManus Cemetery.
