Wayne Alexander
Conaway
October 22, 1963 – April 13, 2026
Wayne Conaway passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a life defined by strength, integrity, and a deep commitment to doing what was right—no matter how difficult the path. He was a man who, through his faith, always strived to live in a way that honored Jehovah and reflected his values.
Wayne was known for his quiet strength, his unwavering principles, and his willingness to stand firm in what he believed was right, even when it was not the easy or popular choice. His life was a reflection of conviction, love, and dedication.
He was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Conaway. He was a deeply protective husband, and the love he had for his wife was rare and unwavering—loyal, strong, and enduring in a way that not many experience. It was a love that stood firm through life’s challenges and remained constant through every season.
He was also a devoted father to his son, Nicholas Ryan Conaway (and his wife, Katie), and his daughters, Summer Conaway and Lillian Hale. He also lovingly raised children as his own, including Travis, Savannah, and Cheyenne, giving his whole heart as a father. He did not show partiality between his biological children and those he took under his wing—he loved and cared for them as his own, a rare and admirable quality that spoke volumes about the kind of man he was.
He was the beloved son of Carlton Conaway Jr. and the late Maureen “Totsie” Conaway, whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carlton “Butch” Conaway III (Sharon), and is survived by his sister, Kim Tess Conaway.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of cousins who meant so much to him. He shared a special bond with his nieces Aniston, Aurelia, Adeline, Athena, and Avell, becoming especially close to them. He cherished time spent together playing Monopoly and other board games, creating memories filled with laughter and joy.
Wayne was a skilled HVAC technician by trade, known for his unmatched work ethic and determination. He was self-employed for many years and later traveled overseas, including to Afghanistan and Iraq, working tirelessly to provide for his family and ensure they always had a home and security. He was the kind of man who never backed down from a challenge—someone who saw a job through completely and properly, no matter how difficult it was. As those who worked beside him would say, every team needs a “pit bull”—someone who won’t let go until the job is done right—and Wayne was that man.
Wayne loved being surrounded by family. He cherished gatherings filled with laughter—crawfish boils, time spent with aunts and uncles, and the simple joy of being together. He especially loved talking about his cousins and spending time with them, often sharing stories from his childhood days that meant so much to him. He loved the water and summertime, boating whenever he could, and teaching the kids how to kneeboard. He especially loved dancing with his wife, creating moments that reflected the deep bond they shared. His life was rooted in family, connection, and making memories with the people he loved most.
He was a proud grandfather to Olive and Axel; Grace and Gage; Walker; and Blaire.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the example he set.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on April 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at The Antebellum House 430 South Street Slidell, Louisiana 70460
He lived a life that gave him a good name, and he will be remembered for the good name he made.
“A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of one’s birth.”— Ecclesiastes 7:1
