With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Thomas (Tom) Harmon, a true connoisseur of life who embraced every experience with style and spirit, passed away on March 28, 2025. Son of Loretta Jastrow and Augustus A Harmon, Tom was born and raised in New Orleans where he developed a love for finer things in life. Whether cruising through the streets of New Orleans or taking scenic rides on his motorcycle, he always embraced adventure. Later in life, he made his home in Covington, where he continued to share his love for cars, working as a Corvette specialist at Bill Hood Chevrolet in Covington for nearly 20 years and passing on his passion to others.
His love for life was matched only by his appreciation for fine dining. Whether enjoying a perfectly cooked steak at Ruth’s Chris or savoring the flavors of Louisiana seafood, like fresh fish, charbroiled oysters, and boiled shrimp, he always found joy in the pleasures of good food, good company, and the perfect glass of champagne or a cold Heineken.
Tom was a cool cat who was always the life of the party, he had a knack for bringing laughter and fun wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by his surviving three children, Gretchen Magnani (Chris), Tommy Harmon Jr. (Buster), Jason Harmon (Meredith), and four grandchildren, Christopher Magnani (Claire), Alexandra Magnani, Nicholas Magnani, Luke Harmon, and two great-grandchildren, Julien Magnani and Amandine Magnani, and sister Kathy Friedrichs. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Deichmann, and two brothers Lenny Harmon and Augustus Harmon Jr.
So tonight, have that drink, order the good stuff, and tell the stories. It’s what Tom would want!
