Siegfried Benjamin Guillot, affectionately known as “Pye,” passed away on September 16, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 93. He was born on July 12, 1933, in Dallas, Texas.

Raised on Ursulines Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Siegfried’s life was marked by service, discipline, intelligence, and deep personal interests that reflected both skill and curiosity. In the late 1940s, he was well known as a jockey at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, a distinctive chapter in his early years that remained part of the rich story of his life.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a sergeant and as a combat veteran of the Korean War. For heroic actions during the war, he received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Following an honorable and distinguished discharge from the Army, Sig went on to a notable career with the Federal Aviation Agency as Air Traffic Control at Moisant International Airport in New Orleans. From 1955 to 1975, he served as a Distinguished Proficiency Specialist for the FAA, bringing dedication and excellence to his work.

Siegfried also valued education and achievement. He graduated from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, earned a Bachelor’s Degree cum laude in Finance from Loyola University in New Orleans, and later completed a paralegal degree at Tulane University in New Orleans. His lifelong love of learning could also be seen in the subjects that captured his attention throughout the years.

He was an avid reader of military history, American history, and God’s Word. He was an artificer in clocks, collected tobacco pipes, and was known as someone who could build and repair anything. He also found joy in bird watching, often with his black cat, “Mr. Chips,” at his side. These passions reflected a man of thought, patience, craftsmanship, and quiet appreciation for the world around him.

Among the greatest blessings of his life was the retirement he enjoyed with his loving wife, RaeAnn “Mimi” Duplaisir Guillot. They shared 57 years of marriage until her passing in 2009, a bond that remained central to his life and memory. He is at peace and reunited with the love of his life, Mimi, in heaven, with glory and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his son, Richard Guillot an Engineer, and his daughter, Sandra Guillot Salmon a Registered Nurse. He also leaves behind grandchildren Benjamin Leon Salmon (Edisa), Greg Valley (Ally), and Deslonde Harvey (Bently), as well as six great-grandchildren who continue his family’s legacy. He will be remembered with love by those who knew him and by the family who carry forward his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, RaeAnn D. Guillot; his father, John Guillot; his mother, Vivian Gluse Guillot; and his brother, John “Jay” Guillot.

Siegfried Benjamin Guillot will be remembered as a decorated veteran, a dedicated professional, a lifelong learner, and a man of many talents and steadfast devotion. His long life leaves a lasting impression on his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
