Sharon Mae Bywater Mulhern Birmingham, known to family and friends as Sheri, was born on March 21, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away on February 7, 2026, at the age of 79, at her daughter’s home in Bogalusa, Louisiana, surrounded by family.

Sheri was raised in New Orleans and remained closely connected to the city throughout her life. She had a lifelong love of animals that began with horses in her youth and later extended to dogs. In her later years, she was involved in dog rescue and showing and took great pride in the care of her animals.

Some of her most cherished times were in Estes Park, Colorado, surrounded by the mountains and her young family.

She was a woman of strong faith and was guided throughout her life by her Catholic beliefs. Sheri was known for her outgoing personality and her ability to connect easily with others. She truly never met a stranger.

Sheri previously worked as a hostess at the Riverview Restaurant at the Marriott in New Orleans, where she was well known for her warm and welcoming manner. She enjoyed meeting people and making guests feel comfortable.

She will be dearly missed by and is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bill Birmingham; her children, Michael Shannon Mulhern (Kelley), Colleen Mulhern Kitchen (Philip Jr.), and Brenden Bywater Mulhern Sr. (Colleen); her grandchildren, John T. Lambert III (Taylor), Kathleen Landry, Philip Kitchen III., Benjamin Kitchen (Elise),

Brenden Mulhern Jr. (Valerie), and Emily Mulhern; and her great-grandchildren, Cade, Luke and Rhys Landry, Sarah and Charlotte Mulhern, and Theodore Kitchen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Odom (Steven), brother-in-law Patrick Mulhern (Allison) , as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Francis Mulhern; her parents, George and Nedra Bywater; her brother, George Bywater (Dotsy); and her parents-in-law, Hoyt and Irene Birmingham.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Annunciation Catholic Church, located at 517 Ave B, Bogalusa, Louisiana.
