Sharen Gail Martin

March 5, 1947 — December 28, 2022

Mandeville

Sharen Gail Martin passed away from heart disease on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the age of 75. She passed peacefully with her husband and two children by her side. Sharen was born and raised in New Orleans and loved the city, it’s history and culture more than most. She was grateful for her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, and proud of her children and grandsons. She loved hearing their stories and also sharing old family stories and New Orleans traditions with them.

Besides her family, a few accomplishments she was proud of were winning the NORD Softball Title playing on the Carrollton Playground Girls Softball team, marching in countless parades twirling baton as Captain of her school Majorette team at both McMain Junior Senior High and Speedway High, and being dubbed “Ms. Mardi Gras” by WWL radio for her Mardi Gras knowledge and list of Mardi Gras etiquette she sent in to the station.

Sharen leaves behind her husband Robert “Bob” Martin, two children Jason (Jennifer) Martin, Renee (Mike) Thibodeaux, four grandsons Zachary Martin, Jordan Martin, Ethan Thibodeaux, and Kaleb Thibodeaux, her mother Delores “Dee” Schultz, her siblings Howard (Sharon) Stembel, Lee Ann Sedwick, Linda (Bill) Oiler and many nieces and nephews. Sharen is preceded in death by her father Charles Pereira, III and her step father who lovingly raised her, Howard “Rus” Stembel.
