Sandra Smith Sheffield

Sandra Sheffield, aged 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 10, 2023 in
Covington, Louisiana.
She is survived by her children Michael Monk, his partner, Adam; Brian Monk and his wife,
Julie; Kristen Brockhoeft; the father of her children, Mark P. Monk and his wife Pam; sister, Linda
Williams and her husband Tom; brother, Mike Smith and his wife Sara; two grandchildren, Taylor Jane
Eric Monk; and Tayler’s father. Adam Brockhoeft. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and many
other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Smith and Martha Jane Smith of Metairie,
Louisiana.
She lived in six states, but spent most of her life in Louisiana. She fondly recalled holiday
memories of her time in Colorado with her sister Linda and when she lived near her cousin, Candy, in
Alabama. During her retirement she volunteered as a theater usher along with her beloved Aunt
Bonnie. She also enjoyed arts and crafts as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren.
One of her greatest achievements was attending school in Hammond, Louisiana and becoming
a nurse -- a profession she worked at for many years -- and she was a talented nurse. She loved pets.
She adopted her cat, Jake -- who may or may not be named for her grandfather-- from the Northshore
Humane Society. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donating to them.
