Russell J. Theriot, Jr.

Russell Joseph Theriot, Jr., born on July 16, 1958, entered eternal rest on October 7, 2023. “Rusty” grew up in Metairie,
Louisiana, and later called Covington, his home. He was proud of the work he did as an Independent Flooring Specialist, and, most recently, as an employee at Rouses Market in Covington.

During his twenties, Rusty was a DJ at weddings and special events in Hammond and Ponchatoula. Everyone who knew him for the past several years knows his “happy place” was church, serving every chance he could.

Russell is preceded in death by his father and mother, Russell, Sr. and Betty Decker Theriot, along with his fraternal grandparents, Whitney Joseph and Hattie Chauvin Theriot, and maternal grandparents, August “Gus” Decker and Myrtle Wyld Decker.
Those left to mourn his loss include his siblings, Sandra Nedbalek,(Steve), David Theriot, Suzanne Simon, (Craig), along with several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and niece.

The Theriot family would like to express our gratitude to the nurses and doctors at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Ochsner Cancer Center, North Oaks Medical Center, and the Ponchatoula Community Care Center for their tireless commitment to Russell’s care
throughout his illness. We are also so grateful to Russell’s pastors and church community at Church of the King in
Covington, and special thanks to Rusty’s dear friend, Mr. James Sandifer, his guardian angel on earth.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Thursday October 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters Catholic
Church 125 E. 19th Avenue Covington, Louisiana 70435 with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial to follow in the Eternal Rest Cemetery 75212 Hwy 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435.
