Obituary

Robert “Rock N Roll” Manning, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 7, 2026, in Slidell, Louisiana. He was born on April 3, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and made his home in Abita Springs, where he was known for his lively spirit, his love of music, and the warmth he brought to those around him.

Robert lived with a deep appreciation for the things that brought joy and meaning to life. He loved history, motorcycles, dancing, vacations, and music, and he especially treasured spending time with his boys. He was also a master carpenter, a calling that reflected both his skill and the care he put into his work. Whether through the things he built or the memories he created with family, Robert leaves behind a lasting mark.

Above all, Robert will be remembered for the love he shared with his family. He is survived by his wife, Tina R. Manning, who stood beside him in life and love. He also leaves behind his sons, Chris Tyrney and his wife Sally, Ian Manning and his wife Bennie, and Nick Manning. His memory will live on in his grandchildren, Timothy, Oliver, William, Brielle, and Nevaeh, each of whom brought him pride and happiness. He is also survived by his brother, David Manning Sr. and his wife Lydia; his sister, Marybelle Early and her husband Pete; and his sister, Carol Macris, along with the many loved ones who will continue to carry him in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Wilson Manning Sr. and Ethel Irene Leonard Manning; his brother, Frank Manning Jr.; and his sister, Dale Manning Allen. Their memory remained a part of his life, and now he rests with those who went before him.

Robert’s life was filled with movement, laughter, craftsmanship, and love. Those who knew him will remember his energy, his interests, and the way he embraced life’s pleasures, from a good song to a family gathering. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held on November 15th. Family and friends may contact the family for the address and additional information.
