In Loving Memory of Rita Louise Paganini Ciulla

The world has lost a shining light with the peaceful passing of Rita Louise Paganini Ciulla on August 10, 2026, at her cherished home in Madisonville, Louisiana. Born on November 10, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Rita was a vibrant soul whose infectious smile and positive attitude left an indelible mark on all who had the fortune to know her. She was a skilled swimmer, detailed note taker, who loved to browse the local shops and would chat with anyone she encountered.

Rita was a devoted daughter to the late Albert and Myrtle Paganini and a beloved wife to her late husband, Marion Anthony Ciulla, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, dedication and respect. Rita's legacy lives on through her daughter, Annette Ciulla Barrios, and her husband, Andre. Rita was the proud and loving grandmother to Austin (fiancé Alivia), Aiden, Adelaide, and Andre, who brought immense joy to her life. Her siblings, Emil Paganini (Loretta), Teresa Brier (Burgess), and Marian Paganini, shared deep bonds with Rita, who was always the heart of family gatherings. Rita extended her nurturing spirit to many she loved as if they were her own, including AnnaMarie Meyers (Ricky), Joey Ciulla (Paula), Jeffrey Meyers (Kristy), Lindsay Meyers, Victoria Welt (Grant), Leslie Smith (Josh), Caden Meyers, Bennett Meyers, Cooper Smith, Rylee Belk, and Zach Lauro. Rita's career as an Analyst with the US Customs Border Patrol was marked by dedication and professionalism, but it was after her retirement, 18 years ago, that she truly flourished in her role as a grandmother, companion and caretaker for her husband. Known for her lively spirit, Rita found joy in every moment and taught those around her the power of laughter, even in the face of life's challenges. Her selflessness and focus on others were evident in the way she lived her life, touching countless hearts along the way.

As a final tribute to Rita, her family asks that everyone wear a shade of blue, which is her favorite color and a reminder of her beautiful blue eyes. The memorial service to honor Rita's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at Bagnell Funeral Home, located at 75212 Highway 437, Covington, LA 70435.
