Reverend Paul Stephen Hart, a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, died on October 30, 2022. He was 70 years of age. Father Hart was born on March 20, 1952 in New Orleans, LA to Clement C. Hart and Azelia D’Aquin Hart. He is survived by his brother Philip S. Hart, sister-in-law Judith Landry Hart, nephew Scott Hart (Kiersten), niece Teri Hart Tankersley (Brian) and great-nephews Zach Tankersley, Riley Tankersley, Matt Hart and Alex Hart as well as numerous cousins and many friends who loved him dearly. Father Hart attended elementary school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner, St. Matthew the Apostle in River Ridge and Stuart Prep. His secondary education was at St. Aloysius in New Orleans. He attended St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict and Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Fr. Hart was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of New Orleans on August 12, 1989. He served as Parochial Vicar at St. Charles Borromeo, Destrehan, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Kenner, and St. Andrew the Apostle, New Orleans. He served as both Parochial Administrator and Pastor at St. Andrew the Apostle in New Orleans. Fr. Hart’s last assignment was Director of the Abbey Christian Life Center.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 at St. Joseph Abbey Church, 75376 River Rd., Covington. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Rd., Covington. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. Donations made in Fr. Hart’s honor may be made to St. Joseph Abbey Christian Life Center, 75376 River Rd., Covington, LA 70457.
