October 28, 1950 — January 9, 2026

Mandeville, Louisiana

Raymond Michael Amedeo Jr. (75) passed away on January 9, 2026 at 4:20pm in his home in Mandeville, Louisiana surrounded by his daughter, grandchildren and siblings.

Ray was the first born son of Raymond Michael Amedeo Sr. and Geraldine "Geri" Fitzgerald Amedeo. He was born on October 28, 1950, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He moved to St. Tammany Parish in the late 1970s and spent a large portion of his life in Bush, Louisiana where he was able to enjoy his many acres and his Japanese maples. Ray’s charisma and laid back attitude drew people to him—qualities that would define his life and friendships. Already blessed with a close knit group of lifelong friends from Archbishop Rummel High School, Class of 1968, Ray went on to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. There, his authentic nature gained him even more lifelong friends, all of whom cherished his friendship throughout the years. Ray spent over 45 years as a very recommended electrical contractor. His business, Amedeo Electric, was something he took great pride in and had a great passion for. Having learned the trade from his father, Ray was a skilled and reliable electrician who took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built along the way. His strong work ethic was matched only by his candid sense of humor.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lindsey Amedeo Gerkin, and her husband, Charles Gerkin; and his cherished grandchildren, Knox Gunner Gerkin and Collins Marie Gerkin, who brought him immense joy and pride. Ray is also survived by his three younger siblings: Susan Jeanette Amedeo; Michael Mark Amedeo (Joy); and Patrick Fitzgerald Amedeo (Leslie).

Ray had a deep love for all living things and found peace and happiness in nature. He enjoyed gardening and yard work, fishing in Grand Isle with his family and late father, deer hunting in Natchez, Mississippi, traveling to music festivals and hot air balloon festivals, and exploring U.S. National Parks. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he never missed a chance to see his favorite artists perform whenever they toured close enough. Ray will be remembered for his ambition, his love of life, his humor, his laughter, his stories, and the many friendships he cherished. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He truly was one of a kind.
