Patty Collins

Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she loved sharing the love of Christ with those around her.

Patty Collins, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2026, at her home in Sun, Louisiana. She was 69 years old. 

Born in Hazard, Kentucky, on May 6, 1957, Patty became a follower of Christ in 1985. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she loved sharing the love of Christ with those around her.

Patty was a beloved wife to Harold Edwin Collins for forty eight years and a devoted mother to Lloyd Hiesler, Harold E. Collins Jr. and his wife Kayla, and Linda Rose Collins. 

She found some of her greatest joy in being a mother and, especially, a “Nannie.” She treasured her grandchildren—Zoey, Austin, Kalijah, Maycee, Leigha, Ethan, Delanie, Maizey, and Donald—and considered the many children she loved through MamaTara Miskito Orphanage in Honduras her precious “grandbabies” as well.

Patty was a remarkably selfless woman. She had a special way of loving people well: she would willingly take an interest in the things that mattered to others simply because they mattered to them. Whether listening to someone talk about something they loved or spending time alongside them, Patty made people feel heard, valued, and loved. She was a good listener, and her quiet willingness to give of herself was one of the ways she showed love.

She also loved caring for her family through food and hospitality. Cooking for the people she loved brought her great joy. Her home was important to her, and she took great pride in caring for it and making it a place where her family could feel comfortable and loved.

Patty found happiness in the simple, ordinary moments of life. She could often be found sitting in her rocking chair, talking to the birds, squirrels, and rabbits outside. She loved watching the life around her and had a tender affection for the creatures that visited her yard. Her beloved cat, Eclipse, was another special companion who held a place in her heart.

Patty was a longtime member of Tabernacle Church of Covington. Her love for Christ was not merely something she believed; it was something she carried into the way she loved her family, listened to others, served those around her, and opened her heart to many far beyond her own home.

Patty leaves behind a legacy of selfless love, faithful devotion, a listening ear, a welcoming home, and a heart that made room for many. Her influence will continue through her children and grandchildren, through the many children she loved as her own in Honduras, and through everyone who experienced her gentle way of loving others.

Though her family mourns her deeply, they find comfort in knowing that Patty is now completely healed, resting in the presence of the Savior she loved and followed for more than four decades.

Famiy and friends are welcome to attend a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with service starting at 10:00 a.m. on September 26, 2026  at the Tabernacle Church 73202 East Stadium Drive Covington, Louisiana 70433.
