Patrick "Pat" Gerard Ryan

Patrick “Pat” Gerard Ryan passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, surrounded by his family. Born on September 10, 1953, Pat was a native of Metairie, Louisiana, and proudly called Covington home for the past 41 years. 

Pat was a man who found joy in the simple things he loved most — classic cars, woodworking, LSU athletics, and above all, his family. A devoted New Orleans Saints fan, he was already looking forward to the upcoming 2026–2027 season. “Who Dat” was never far from his heart. For more than 25 years, Pat worked for J. Ray McDermott, where he built lifelong friendships and countless memories, especially with his beloved “lunch crew.” 

Pat is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Gwen Lilly Ryan; his sons, Scott Ryan (Kira), Shaun Ryan Sr. (Shelly), and Shane Ryan; and his cherished grandsons, William, Aidan, Shaun Jr., and Ian Ryan. He is also survived by his siblings, William Ryan Jr. (Debbie), Michael Ryan (Cindy), and Kathleen Bernard (Ronnie), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 14 years, Holly Reppel Ryan; his parents, William “Billy” Ryan Sr. and Emma (Englert) Ryan; and his brother, Terence J. Ryan. 

Pat will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on through the stories shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. Especially his three sons and four grandsons. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
