Patricia Cantrell Melerine

Patricia Cantrell Melerine passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the age of 79.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, John D. Melerine, Sr. Devoted mother of Robert Broadhead, Jr. (Cindy), Jeffery Broadhead, Brian Broadhead (Rose), and Mark Broadhead. Parent to Celita Rhodes ( Michael), Bonnie Wetzel (Brian), Sabrina Toledo (Santos), Chad Melerine, and the Late John Melerine Jr..  Daughter of the late William and Odile Ruiz Cantrell. Sister of the late William B. Cantrell, Jr., Emile Cantrell, Norman Cantrell, Leon Cantrell, Bobby Cantrell, Bernice Hanzo, Mary Alice Matlock, Elvia Schubert, Clair Rita Estopinal, Lorraine Darce, Ethel Gagliano, Joan Fraychinaud, Earline Cantrell, and Linda Lobre. She was the proud grandmother of Melissa Senez, Christie Trahan, Ashley Broadhead, Mark Broadhead, Jr., Danielle Broadhead, Cierra Broadhead, Brandon Broadhead, Tiffany Broadhead, and Corey Stevens. She is also survived and fondly remembered by 16 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Patricia was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. Among Patricia’s favorite pastimes was her occasional visits to the casino, where she found excitement and joy. The thrill of the games and the companionship of friends made each outing an adventure. One of her favorite things was gathering together with family and friends to enjoy birthday celebrations, cook-outs and seafood boils.

As we bid farewell to Patricia, relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at HOUSE OF REFUGE CHURCH, 1561 E. LA 46, St. Bernard, LA 70085, January 20 th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Service in Patricia’s memory beginning at 12:00PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
