Nancy Barbara Kahn Sime was born on February 6, 1934 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She passed peacefully in Covington, LA knowing she was loved by so many on January 5, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Art” Sime. He was the love of her life. She is also preceded by her father Charles Kahn, her mother Julia Weiss, and her daughter Lynn McCullough.
Nancy and Art raised 9 children together in Pittsfield, Massachusetts: Susie Dugas (Troy), David Sykes, Timmy Sykes (Debbie), Sally Frey (Emile), Peter Sykes (Kim), Audrey McClain (Dan), Glenn Sime (Jen), and Gail Rivers (Dana). She has 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, as well as many granddogs, all of whom could always count on her for a treat.
She and Art loved to travel the United States and see beautiful sites across the nation. For many years, they were “snowbirds” traveling between Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Spring Hill, Florida before deciding to reside there full-time. Nancy loved people and her family and jumped at any chance to gather people, so it comes as no surprise that Christmas was her favorite holiday and she was an avid game player. She was famous for her spaghetti and her lasagna and her karaoke performances of Moon River. After Art passed, Nancy moved to The Trace in Covington, LA. The family is beyond grateful for all of the staff and residents there that welcomed and loved on her.
The family plans to spread the ashes in the Springtime in Pittsfield near the family home. There will be a small memorial at the Mandeville Lakefront near the gazebo on January 8th at 5:00 pm.
