Michael John Gannon, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Mandeville, Louisiana. He was born on March 10, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His life was a testament to his unwavering devotion to his family, faith, and community.
Michael was a proud graduate of South Hills High School and furthered his education in music at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. His commitment to service was evident throughout his life; he served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of the committee for St. Joseph's Altar. Michael demonstrated his strong faith as an usher at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he was a cherished member of the congregation.
Michael had a deep love for music, gardening, shopping, and traveling. However, above all, he cherished time spent with his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Linda Gannon, and his legacy continues through his children: Kellie Renners, Michael John Gannon III, Sean Michael Gannon, Scott Evans and his wife Donna, Kelly Evans and his wife Pamela, and Stacey Maximo and her husband Douglas. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Bradley Gannon, Barbie Aucoin and her husband Grant, Brianna Foster, Corey Evans and his wife Taylor, Mandi Tyler, Zachary Evans, and Kayleigh Evans. Additionally, he is survived by three great-grandchildren: Asher Aucoin, Ahviana Aucoin, and Noelle Evans.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Michael John Gannon Sr. and Mildred Ziefel Gannon. He lived his life surrounded by love and left this world surrounded by his cherished family.
Michael John Gannon, Jr. will be remembered not only for his strong character and dedication to his faith and family but also for the kindness and warmth he extended to all who crossed his path. His impact on the lives of those around him will be felt for generations to come.
A Visitation will take place on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 501 Holy Trinity Dr, Covington, LA 70433, followed by a Mass at 12:00 PM. Michael will then be laid to rest at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden.
