Special Warfare Operator, McKenzie Cameron Callaway (Cam), lived a life defined by discipline, humility, and a quiet unwavering strength. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cam grew up with a rare combination of grit and kindness – a young man who pushed himself to extraordinary heights while lifting everyone around him.

Before he ever wore the Trident, Cam built the foundation of his character in the gym. A competitive gymnast through middle and high school, he served as his high school team captain and later competed with the University of Oklahoma Club Gymnastics Team, where he helped secure a national championship. His coaches and teammates remember him as the athlete who stayed late, encouraged others, and made the hardest work feel possible.

Cam carried that same spirit into coaching at United Elite Gymnastics, Rockwall Gymnastics, and The Tumble and Stunt Institute shaping young athletes with patience, humor, and a belief that they could always go one step further. He was a natural mentor long before he became a SEAL.

Service ran deep in Cam’s blood. He followed a legacy of military dedication – a grandfather, great grandfather and brother-in-law in the Navy, a great grandfather in the Army, a grandmother in the Air Force, and a cousin in the Marine Corps. Cam honored them not just by joining the Navy, but by choosing one of its most demanding paths.

Among his SEAL brothers, Cam was known for his relentless work ethic and his selflessness. They speak of him with profound respect – a teammate who didn’t just chase his own goals but pushed others to surpass theirs. He was the steady presence in the room, the quiet motivator, the man who made everyone better simply by being beside them.

He was also deeply loved. A big brother to six younger siblings, and four stepsiblings, Cam carried his role in the family with pride and tenderness. He was funny – genuinely, effortlessly funny – and kind in a way that left a mark on everyone who knew him. He loved to surf, to laugh, and to make people feel seen.

Cam served his country with honor. He lived with purpose. And he left behind a legacy of strength, compassion and brotherhood that will endure in the hearts of his family, his teammates, and the Navy community.

The United States Navy and the SEAL Teams are forever grateful for Special Warfare Operator Second Class McKenzie Cameron Callaway. His courage will be remembered. His sacrifice will be honored. His memory will live on in every life he touched.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
