Maurice Sheridan Spranley

Maurice Sheridan Spranley Jr., lovingly known as “Denny,” passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 80. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by love, dedication, and quiet strength.

Denny was a graduate of Jesuit High School and earned his master’s degree from Tulane University. He owned and operated a successful CPA business for over 50 years, where he built not only a respected career, but lifelong friendships with many of his clients. He was also a valued member of the St. John Business Association.

Above all, Denny was a family man. He loved his family deeply and spent his life making sure they were cared for and supported. He was steady, reliable, and kind — someone you could always count on.

He enjoyed coin collecting, gardening, and spending time with his beloved pets, having a lifelong love for animals.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lesley Spranley; his brother, Thomas Spranley; his sister, Nancy Kearney; his daughters, Melissa Spranley and Katherine Spranley; and his seven grandchildren: Crystal Spranley, Amelie Dupuy, Dax Dupuy, Cayden Gilbreath, Hayleigh Gilbreath, Tres Cooke, and Kayleigh Cooke. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Maurice Sheridan Spranley Sr. and Helen Spranley.

Denny will be remembered as a wonderful man who lived with integrity, generosity, and deep love for his family and friends.
