Maureen Kathleen Johnson

Maureen Johnson of Covington, LA, passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2026, at the age of 72.

Maureen was born on April 27, 1953, and raised in Metairie. She believed in the eternal joy of a Heavenly after-life, as she was raised and educated through the Catholic Church and school system.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Daniel Coyle; and her mother, Vivian Ryan Coyle. She is survived by and was the beloved wife of Bruce Johnson for 48 years; mother of Bruce Jr. (Corie); grandmother of Ryder and Dylan. She is also survived by her sisters; Sheila Ory (Jim) and Kathleen Coyle, MD, and brother Raymond D. Coyle Jr.; nephew Daniel Ory (Lauren) and other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Her legacy is one of unconditional love, kindness, and fierce protection of her loved ones and friends, as her Irish heritage engrained in her. She deeply loved her son, daughter-in-law and her grandchildren, moving to the north-shore to be closer to them as their Maw-Maw.

Maureen was a graduate of Chapelle H.S., Southeastern Louisiana University, where she earned a B.S. Degree in Medical Technology and the University of Holy Cross, earning a degree in Nursing.

She enjoyed a long career of service at LSU in Vet Science research, in various hospital laboratories, in nursing and at NASA KSC where she thoroughly enjoyed working on the Orbiter’s air and water systems for the Astronauts. Maureen enjoyed a lifetime of caring for pets, especially her dog rescues.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
