Mary Reeves Burnthorne, 88, of Covington, Louisiana, returned to God on April 4, 2026. She was born in Skene, Mississippi in 1938 to Claude and Helen Reeves. She graduated from Skene High School and began a lifelong career with Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company initially in New Orleans and then Hammond, Louisiana. In retirement she developed a love for gardening. She spent many hours outside working in her yard.

Mary was a devoted Christian who cherished the teachings of the bible, her favorite bible verse was John chapter 17:24-26. She attended Trinity Church of Covington, Louisiana, and was thankful for her many friends among its congregation. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, Eric James “Jim” Burnthorne, Sr., and siblings James “Bo” Reeves, Claudine Millican, and Stanley Reeves who she will meet again in Heaven, and is survived by children, Eric James Burnthorne, Jr., Terri Tará Burnthorne Lopez, and Kevin Lamar Burnthorne; Loretta Rivers, whom she loved like a daughter; grandchildren, Michael Burnthorne, Jacob Burnthorne, Kristin Burnthorne Livingston, Charles Lopez, III, Brady Lopez, Cody Selph, and Gage Selph; and siblings Carolyn Reeves Stanford and Shirley Reeves Hewitt.

A visitation will be held at Trinity Church, 19380 N 10th St. Covington, Louisiana 70433 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:30a.m. Donations may be made to Trinity Church in support of their missions.
