Martin Robert Theriot Jr., lovingly known as “Spud” or “Marty Bob,” passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 58. Born in Franklin, Louisiana, on August 27, 1966, Martin was the beloved son of the late Martin Sr. and Hazel Theriot.
A man of quiet strength and deep loyalty, Martin lived a life marked by hard work, humility, and heart. He served honorably in the United States Navy and spent much of his career in the oilfield before later becoming a well-respected pool man in his community.
Though he valued his privacy and kept to himself, Martin had a kindness that ran deep. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His sense of humor was sharp, unexpected, and unforgettable—often catching people off guard in the best way. His laughter and wit left lasting impressions on those lucky enough to know him well.
Martin was a lifelong sports fan—especially devoted to the Boston Red Sox. But his greatest joy and source of pride was his daughter, Chelsea Theriot. She was the light of his life, and he never missed a moment to brag about her or light up when he spoke of her.
Martin is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Theriot; and his siblings Ricky, Charlene (Darryl), Lisa, Robert (Tina), and Peggy. He is also remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Hazel Theriot, and his sister Rhonda.
In accordance with Martin’s wishes, a private service will be held.
Martin’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, his quiet strength, and most of all, the love he gave so deeply to his daughter.
