Mark Edward Scheib, 61, of Madisonville LA, passed away on January 30, 2026.
Mark was born in Morgan City, LA, and returned to his family’s native New Orleans in 1973. He graduated from Rummel High School in Metairie , LA and attended Loyola University. He worked with production companies in New Orleans for several years prior to moving to Los Angeles to chase his dream of working as a TV and film editor in Hollywood. Lacking a degree from film school, and without knowing anyone in Hollywood at the time, Mark worked his way to television’s highest honor, and received an Emmy award in 2003. He edited many shows in his career, but most notably, Dilbert, The Tick, Men in Black, Monk, Arrested Development, The Simpsons, The Simpsons Movie, The Paul Reiser Show, and Malcolm in the Middle. He won an Emmy for Single Camera Comedy editing for an episode of Malcom, which he considered the crowning achievement of his career.
Mark loved living in California. He loved sailing, windsurfing, snow boarding, the New Orleans Saints, & Pelicans. He was a gifted pianist. He was a brilliant man with a quick wit and sense of humor second to none. Mark was always the funniest person in the room, with a bigger than life personality. He adored his family, especially his nieces. He kept them, their cousins and friends greatly entertained over the years. The “Uncle Markisms” will live in infamy in family folklore.
Mark is predeceased by his mother, Katherine “Katie” Bourgeois Scheib and sister Julie Anne Scheib. He leaves behind his beloved father, J. Gilbert “Jack” Scheib, Jr. of Madisonville, LA., sister Gretchen Scheib Grace (Tommy) of Houston TX., brother Jay Scheib III (Sharon) of Mandeville, LA, nieces Allison Davis (Heath) Casey Raspanti (Michael) Goddaughter Gillian Grace and Katherine Grace.
