Margaret Schmidt was suddenly called home to the Lord on December 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on July 10, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Margaret shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Edward S. Schmidt, Sr., prior to his death in 2020. Ed was the love of her life, and her best friend with whom she shared love and cherished memories. Together, Margaret and Ed built a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion. They raised two children, Pamala and Eddie (Cindy), and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Their marriage was a true example of commitment, partnership, and enduring love.

Margaret was a proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren Jessica (Gary), Justin (Leighann), Jared, and Grace Tiffany, and a cherished great-grandmother to Tanner, Taylor, Maggie, and Wyatt, each of whom brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her former daughter in law, Jerilyn. 

Margaret was a woman of many talents and passions. She earned a culinary degree in Lake Jackson, TX and proudly owned and operated a catering business, where her love for cooking and serving others brought joy to countless gatherings and celebrations. She loved creating beautiful things that made her house a welcoming home for family and friends. 

Margaret and Ed traveled the world and spent several months each year in Italy enjoying the culture, food, art and religion. Margaret enjoyed cruises, finding peace in the beauty of the water. She treasured spending time at home on the deck looking out at the bayou enjoying quiet moments together with Ed and their dog Emma.

Margaret was a faithful and devoted Catholic who lived her life rooted in prayer and service. She rarely missed morning Mass and was very involved at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where her commitment, and quiet service touched many. Her faith guided her daily life and was reflected in the kindness, humility, and compassion she showed to all. 

Margaret was loved by many and truly never knew a stranger. She had a bubbly personality, greeting everyone with warmth and grace, making others feel seen and valued. She cherished her friendships and truly enjoyed time with the wonderful ladies in her group.

For her family, Margaret was the foundation and the glue that held everything together. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering Catholic faith, her strength, generous spirit, and the beautiful life she shared with Ed and her family.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her name to Mary Bird Perkins (Covington, LA) or the Northshore Humane Society (Covington, LA).

Funeral services will be on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Covington, LA.

Visitation will begin at 10:00am until the funeral mass at 11:00am.
