Margaret Schroder Allo Helm passed away April 30, 2026 at the age of 100. She was born in Toronto, Canada November 22, 1925 to Margaret Kerr Schroder and Alexander Schroder.
She moved to Scotland after the death of her only sibling, Jessie. During WWII, at the age of 14, she with many British children, were moved to Canada for safety. She was separated from her parents for four years. Upon returning to Scotland, she soon moved to England at age of 18 and worked as a secretary. There she met Murphy (Buddy) Allo (deceased), an American Army Staff Sargent and became engaged. After the war, she came to America, married, lived in Marrero and had eight children: Thomas D. Allo, Darrell J. Allo (deceased) Murphy J. Allo, Kathleen Allo Williams, Amber Allo Hebert, Rebecca Allo Harrah, Barbara Allo Camus (deceased) and Diana Allo Diaz. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She worked at West Jefferson Hospital in medical records.
She remarried, Wendell (Gerry) Helm (deceased) and moved to Covington.
Upon her illness with strokes and dementia onset, she moved to the Westbank and was cared for by her daughter, Kathy Williams for 15 years.
There will be no memorial service. She will be cremated at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home, Covington, La. Some ashes will be taken to her beloved Scotland by her granddaughter, Jennifer Williams Grant.
