Margaret "Mikie" Amacker, born on January 10, 1938, in Covington, Louisiana, departed this world on June 12, 2025, in Enon, Louisiana. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and sister who brought warmth and love to all who knew her.
Mikie was a vibrant spirit with a passion for life reflected in her hobbies and interests. She cherished her time spent working in her yard, where her love for yard art transformed her surroundings into a delightful display of creativity. Camping with her family held a special place in her heart, as did the joyful gatherings that brought her loved ones together. A true enthusiast of literature, Mikie loved reading novels, often losing herself in captivating stories that transported her to different worlds.
She is survived by her son, Darol Amacker (Karen), and her beloved sisters, Emily "Stella" Galloway and Emma "Dolly" Galloway. Mikie will be fondly remembered by her half-brothers, Emile Galloway and O'Neal Galloway. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Among her great-grandchildren, Onna’Ley Eliska Gonsoulin-Amacker and Cylas Paul Gonsoulin-Amacker were embraced by Mikie as her own through adoption, exemplifying her boundless love. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will miss her kind heart and warm smile.
Mikie was predeceased by her cherished husband, Darol E. Amacker, and her loving daughters, Teresa Denise Amacker and Debra Lynn Amacker Haley (Malcolm). She was also preceded in death by her parents, Emile Van Galloway and Frances Holden Galloway, as well as her siblings Grace Plescia, Van Galloway, and Teresa Dunhurst.
Margaret "Mikie" Amacker's spirit will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her presence in their lives will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing time with her.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Highway 437, Covington, LA 70435. A Wake will be held on the Evening of June 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on June 21, 2025. A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, and a Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Brother Chris Wheeler of Enon Baptist Church will be officiating. Following the Funeral Service, there will be a procession to Knights Garden Cemetery, 14049 Highway 16, Enon, Louisiana, where the Interment will take place after a short Graveside Service. All are invited to partake in Food and Fellowship at Enon Baptist Church following the graveside service.
