Louis Jack Hill

Louis Jack Hill, born May 24, 1933, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2025, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of the late Beryl Rizan Hill, with whom he shared 66 loving years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents Louis George and Florence Hill and his beloved brother Jack George Hill (Patricia).

Louis proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Following his service, he served as a firefighter at Alvin Callender Field Naval Air Station from 1956 until his retirement in 1983. Concurrently, he worked nearly three decades as a stagehand in the IATSE union in New Orleans.

A devoted father, he is survived by his four children: Wayne Hill (Beryl), Karen Hill, Donna Dotson (Barry), and Grace Bauman (David). He was the proud grandfather of Todd Hill, Sarah Franatovich (Mitchell), Nicole O’Neil (Ryan), Drew Dotson (Ruth), Quinn Dotson (Kaitlyn), Austin Bauman and Charis Bauman. Great-grandfather to Maci, Kayla, Cooper, Riley, and Reagan.

A native of New Orleans, long-time resident of Chalmette, Mr. Hill has been a resident of Mandeville for the last 20 years.

Louis had deep faith, a giving heart and quiet strength. His life was defined by steadfast loyalty—to his family, his faith, and his work. He especially loved tending his garden, where he grew beautiful creole tomatoes to share with family, friends, and neighbors. He was a skilled carpenter who could build or repair just about anything. In his early twenties, he constructed the family home in Chalmette under the guidance of his beloved Uncle Alvin (Bud). His garage, transformed into a workshop, became the place where he enjoyed working on countless projects.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Sage Lake Senior Living and Harmony Hospice for their compassionate care and support during his final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, Louisiana 70435 on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.
