Kirt James Richard, Sr., (56) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at his home in Bridge City, Louisiana, due to heart failure. Kirt was born in Marrero in 1965, and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth G. Richard. He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife of 31 years, Ann Marie DuBroc Richard; his two sons, Kirt James Richard, Jr. (Jessica) and Chase Michael Richard (Haylie); his mother, Cecile Guillot; his four grandchildren, Jace Julius Adams, Kashh Owen Richard, Hunter James Richard, and his princess, Karsyn Ranea Richard. He is also survived by his loyal canine companion, Sadie, and fondly remembered by cousins, nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and good friends.
Kirt spent his life doing what he loved. Although he enjoyed trucking and construction, his true calling was working as a commercial fisherman. He loved being out on the water fishing, crabbing or shrimping. His love of the water also earned him recognition from the State for the volunteer work he did to help keep the waterways of Bayou Segnette safe for others to enjoy. He was a family man always willing to lend a hand to help anyone in need. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Alicia Coleman Raymond with St. Joseph’s Hospice for caring for him like family, providing exceptional care, and always putting a smile on his face.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Kirt’s Life to be held on Sunday, April, 10, 2022, Noon for family, 2:00 p.m. for friends, 213 Christiana Drive, Marrero, Louisiana.
