Kevin Patrick Hemsteter, a beloved brother, friend, and uncle, passed away on January 23, 2025. Kevin was born March 28, 1958 to parents Peter and Marion Hemsteter in New Orleans, LA. He received his earlier education at Immaculate Heart of Mary School and later graduated in 1976 from Brother Martin High School. Further pursuing his academic aspirations, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics, as well as a Master of Science from the University of New Orleans.
Kevin served in the United States Military as an Army Sergeant E5 until 1992, then dedicated his professional life to the advancement of science, working at the Stennis Space Center where he was a research physicist. Beyond his professional endeavors, Kevin had many diverse talents and interests. He was fluent in several languages, studied Taekwondo, and enjoyed music, art and literature.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Janice Zumwalt, and brothers, Keith Hemsteter and Kerry Hemsteter. His legacy continues through his cherished nieces, Chelsea Zumwalt and Clara Keith. Additionally, he leaves behind his grand-nieces Riley Mullins, Olivine Jane Keith and Carol Karen Keith, as well as grand-nephews Ragen Mullins and Edward Louis Keith. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Peter Hemsteter, Jr.
His memory will be forever treasured by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
An inurnment will take place on April 16, 2025 at 12:30PM at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College road in Slidell Louisiana, 70460. Care has been entrusted to Bagnell & Son Funeral Home of Covington, LA.
