Kelly James Stein

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kelly James Stein on the 10th of February, 2026. Age 71.

Kelly Stein was born in Reserve, Louisiana October Second, 1954 in Reserve Louisiana to Norwood Stein Sr. and Rowena Bourgois. It was there, alongside his brothers Wayne and Norwood 'Co' Stein Jr, that he learned the value of hard work. A lesson that would serve him well as a plant laborer.

He later moved to Slidell where he started a family with Janet Cruthirds Stein. Together they raised two children Elizabeth Evans (Byrne) and the late Jeramy Stein. Their family would grow again with the births of two grandchildren, Avery and Stein Evans.

Kelly had a deep and abiding love of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and travelling. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports and, of course, he never got tired of watching his LSU Tigers tearing apart Death Valley.

A memorial service for Kelly James Stein will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Gallilean located at 3404 US-51 N, LaPlace, LA 70068
