Karen Ann Rehm, 70, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Slidell, Louisiana.
Karen lived in Destrehan, Louisiana, for the last 12 years with her wonderful friend and caretaker, Maureen Ardoin, who preceded her in death.
Born on November 12, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Karen was the daughter of the late John Charles Rehm Jr. and Eunice Martinez Rehm. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Charles Rehm III. She is survived by her sister, Judith Rehm Townsend, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Karen was a loving mother to her children: Heather McCreary; Heidi Sobota Daroca and her husband, Matthew; and Corey Sobota and his wife, Stephanie. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she especially treasured her role as a grandmother.
She was a proud and loving Mimi to her grandsons Parrish Sullivan and his wife, Brittany; Mason Daroca; Andrew Daroca; Nicholas Daroca; Luke Daroca; Dominic McCreary; Ashton Machado; Stephen Thompson; Jack McCreary; Ryan Alexander; and Benjamin Alexander. Karen adored her grandsons and found immense happiness in spending time with them. They brought her endless pride and joy.
Karen had a deep and abiding love for animals that was evident to all who knew her.
She turned that passion into a career in dog grooming, where she was known for her gentle touch, patience, and genuine care for every animal she worked with. She had a special way with animals, treating each one as if it were her own, and found true happiness in their companionship. Her home and heart were always open to animals in need, and she formed deep bonds with the pets she cared for throughout her life. Her beloved dog, Abbie, affectionately known as “Abbie girl,” who preceded her in death, held a very special place in her heart and was her constant companion and best friend.
Karen’s life was a reflection of the love she gave so freely to both her family and the animals she cherished. Her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit extended to every creature she encountered, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Karen’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and in the many lives she touched with her compassion and love.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember Karen.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
