Juan Manuel Caldas, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and cherished member of his family and community, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana. He was born on May 30, 1959 in Cali, Colombia.
Juan lived a life defined by connection, curiosity, friendship, and a genuine appreciation for the experiences that make life meaningful. He loved music and the way it could bring people together.
He loved to travel, discovering new places, cultures, foods, and experiences along the way. He especially enjoyed good food and the simple pleasure of sharing a meal and good conversation with the people he cared about.
Juan had a naturally curious spirit and enjoyed learning new things and sharing what he discovered with others. His interests were never simply his own; he had a way of turning what he learned into stories, conversations, laughter, and shared experiences. His enthusiasm for life invited the people around him to see, learn, and experience more for themselves.
Juan was also incredibly funny and playful. He had a gift for making people laugh and loved bringing joy to those around him. Whether through a joke, a silly antic, an unexpected surprise, or simply doing something completely ridiculous, Juan could turn an ordinary moment into one of uncontrollable laughter. He had a wonderfully playful, childlike spirit and was never afraid to be silly; especially when it meant making himself and others laugh. Those moments of hysterical laughter, shared with the people he loved, will remain among the memories that make Juan so unforgettable.
He will be remembered for the friendships he formed and the affection he showed to the people in his life. Juan believed in the value of companionship and made lasting connections with people from many different walks of life. His love of music, travel, food, learning, family, friendship, and laughter created a life rich with memories and experiences that will continue through those who knew him.
