Joy Ann Schmitz Landreneau entered this world on May 8, 1942, and entered Heaven on June 2, 2025.
Born in New Orleans to Jules and Lucille Schmitz, she is survived by her sons Darren Landreneau (Meredith) and Jeff Landreneau (Michelle), Son in Law Joseph Hargrave, his sons Marcus (Angie) and Jacob (Jozette Dupont), and her grandchildren Crystal Lejeune (Keith), Zachary, Ian, Christopher, Nicholas, and Madeline (aka Suzy), great-grandchild Kevin Lejeune, several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her second family, the children of her twin sister Julie, her niece Becky Prima (Gordon) and nephew Brian Rosa (Angella).
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Andrew “Peewee” Landreneau, their daughter Michele “Missy” Hargrave, and her twin sister and brother-in-law Julie and Freeman Rosa.
Joy was employed with Key Color Laboratories and Professional Color for over 30 years. Joy enjoyed working and spending time with friends. She loved to hang out with coworkers and some high school friends at Picadilly’s and New Orleans Hamburgers and Seafood. She loved their gumbo! She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild Kevin.
If Joy loved you, she loved you fiercely!
Joy was a caring and loving sister, wife, mother, and friend. She will be missed by many that have known her.
A memorial service to celebrate Joy’s life with her family and friends will be Sunday, June 22 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Hwy 437, Covington, La 70435.
