Obituary

Joshua Paul Loyacano, 44, a lifelong resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on October 17, 2026.

Joshua was a laid-back, easygoing soul with a heart bigger than most. He was happiest outdoors, whether he was casting a fishing line, enjoying the fresh air, or simply finding peace in the little things life had to offer. Fishing was one of his greatest joys, and anyone who knew Joshua knew he would much rather be outside than anywhere else.

Of all the things Joshua treasured in life, nothing compared to the pride he had in his son, Dane. Being Dane’s dad was one of his greatest blessings, and he could not have been prouder of the young man his son was becoming. That love and pride will forever be part of the legacy Joshua leaves behind.

Joshua is survived by his beloved son, Dane Loyacano; his father, Marshall Loyacano, and Marshall’s spouse, Dawn Loyacano; and his sisters, Misty Lavilla and her husband, Jonah Lavilla; Devin Macheca and her husband, Josh Macheca; and Kelly Lusch and her husband, Drew Lusch, along with many other family members and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Leslie and brother Nicholas along with other cherished family members who welcomed him home.

While our hearts ache knowing we can no longer see his smile or hear his voice, we find comfort in imagining the beautiful reunion taking place in Heaven. We picture Joshua reunited with his mom, finally at peace, with a fishing pole in his hand and not a worry in the world. And somewhere nearby, Mawmaw and Pawpaw are sharing stories, laughter, and memories, just like old times.

Joshua’s life may not have always been easy, but his heart was always full of love. He will be remembered not for the struggles he faced, but for the love he gave, the pride he had in his son, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him.

Until we meet again, Joshua, may the fish always be biting, the stories never end, and the waters always be calm. We love you, and we will carry you in our hearts forever.
