Joseph Talmadge Smith Jr.

Joseph Talmadge “Joe” Smith, Jr. age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Folsom, Louisiana on March 24, 2026. Born in New Orleans, Joe spent much of his life as a resident of Buras, Louisiana before settling on his beloved family property in Folsom following Hurricane Katrina.

A proud veteran Joe served with honor in the United States Army. He later enjoyed a long career with Entergy, where a he was a dedicated Lineman Supervisor and deeply valued the bonds formed with his crew.

Joe is survived by his children: Joseph “Joey” Smith, III (Jan), Eva Bowers (Curtis), Anna Zegura (Steven) and Troy Smith (Helen). He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchild who were the light of his life as well as his longtime companion Joycelyn Ansalve, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Redmond Smith and his parents, Anna Carrington Smith and Joseph Smith, Sr.

Joe will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
