Joseph Charles Meiners

Joseph Charles Meiners, a lifelong resident of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on April 13, 1938, in Mandeville, he devoted his life to serving his community, most notably through his work at the Department of Transportation.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Joseph exemplified dedication and resilience, values that resonated throughout his career and personal life. 

Joseph enjoyed a vibrant life filled with various interests and hobbies. Among his great passions were fishing and crabbing, activities that allowed him to connect with the natural beauty of Louisiana. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying both softball and basketball, sharing joyous moments with friends and family through friendly competition.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his brother Norman Meiners and sister-in-law Linda Meiners. Joseph’s legacy is carried on through his children: daughter Lisa Meiners Haydel and her husband Daniel Haydel, and son Scott Meiners and his wife Michele Meiners. His grandchildren, Casey Haydel Pender and her husband Jacob, Rachel Haydel Darrow and her husband Jeff, Paige Haydel, and Corey Haydel will remember him fondly, along with his great-grandchildren, Julian Darrow and Jonah Darrow.

Joseph is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Frederick Meiners Sr. and Cleo Meiners, as well as his brother Frederick Meiners Jr. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

A service of inurnment will be held on Saturday June 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Mandeville Cemetery, located at 1609 Montgomery St, Mandeville, LA 70448. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor the remarkable life of Joseph Charles Meiners, a man cherished for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
