Johnny (Binky) Ronald Rusich died Thursday March 3, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Bonnie Schaefer Compagno Rusich for 15 years loving stepfather of Ronnie Compagno and Grandfather of Erica Compagno Maggio (James Jr) and going to be a great grandfather. Son of the late Albert Joseph Rusich and Bertha Hickman Rusich. Brother of the late Albert Donald Rusich. Brother in law of Merlene Schaefer and Jackie Rusich, and the late Leanna Schaefer Rodriguez. Uncle of Jeana Kieffer (Butch) Paul Schaefer (Monique) Merlin Schaefer (Tracy). Great uncle of Theresa Macaluso (Perry), Marley Schaefer, Louis Kieffer, Josie Jackson (James), Mitchell Schaefer, and Bryce Schaefer. Godfather of Lisa Surgi, Lisa Dayries, Paul Schaefer, and Christian Cvitanovich.
Born in Biloxi, Mississippi and a longtime resident of New Orleans and Bucktown, and a resident of Covington of 15 years. Retired co-owner and co-founder of Schaefer and Rusich Seafood. Binky was a Veteran who served in the U.S army from 1954-1956. Binky was also an accomplished horse enthusiast who had a love for quarter horses and enjoyed competing in horse shows against the best in class. His dedication was rewarded as two of the horses he raised were honored as Quarter Horse World Champions. He will be deeply missed by all. He had lots of loving and caring family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday March 13, 2022 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 1520 Chickasaw Ave Metairie, LA from 5:00pm- 9:00pm Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Monday March 14, 2022 from 10:00am- 1:00pm with Funeral Services at 1pm. Internment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, LA. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in the name of Johnny (Binky) Rusich to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
