John Philip Nolan, born June 4, 1958, in Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in the place he always called home. Philip, as he was lovingly known, was raised in Abita Springs, where he grew into the kind of man people respected not just for his work ethic, but for his heart. As the longtime owner of Philip Nolan Construction, he took pride in building more than just structures—he built relationships, trust, and a legacy in his community. He was also proudly known for his time with the Covington High football team, contributing to the 1976 State Championship team—an accomplishment he carried with pride throughout his life and one that spoke about his dedication, teamwork, and perseverance.
A devoted member of the Church of Latter-day Saints in Covington, Philip found strength in hisfaith and joy in life’s simplest blessings. Philip consistently demonstrates his deep compassionby providing nourishment to those in need, whether it’s through his work with missionaries or by playing Santa every Christmas. His heart is truly a treasure for those he loves and cares for. The kindness and generosity he shared are evident in every action, reflecting his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place for others.
He had a deep love for the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or simply soaking in the peace of nature. But nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every laugh, every story, and every moment spent with them.
Philip is survived by his wife, Kimmie Spell Nolan. He leaves behind his son, Lowron Matthew Nolan (Jessica), and his daughter, Teresa Nolan (Matt), who will carry forward his values and love. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren—Remington Boudreaux, Karmen Barron, John Nolan, and Mark Nolan—each of whom called him Pow Pow, held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his siblings: Juanita Plescia (Dale), Eugene Nolan, Sue Hadden, Herbert Rester, and Edna Charleville.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, John Matthew Nolan and Sadie Jenkins Nolan, as well as his siblings Maxine Leek (Elmer) and Stanley Murphy. He will be remembered as a man of warmth, quiet strength, and genuine kindness & constant jokes. Philip had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and seen. His love for his family and his easy, friendly spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
