John (Jay) Nicosia Jr. of Robert, Louisiana passed away July 24, 2023, in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 65.
Jay was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to John Nicolas Nicosia Sr. and Elaine R. Nicosia on July 26, 1957.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents John and Elaine Nicosia, Brother-in-law Sammy Bonanno.
He is remembered by his spouse of 46 years Rebecca (Becky) Nicosia, his son John N Nicosia III (Victoria), Siblings Lisa N. Bonanno, Gary P. Nicosia (Linda) and Grandson John N. Nicosia IV
Jay, a third-generation electrician, began his career as a nine-year old tagging along with his dad. He was self- employed but also worked with many electrical contractors. In 2014 he retired as an Electrician Leader with the US Coast Guard.
He was often seen zipping around on his Scag lawn mower in Robert, Louisiana, as he worked hard to improve, maintain, and grow his small rental empire.
In his younger years he enjoyed fishing from "The Captain Jay" and spending time with family and friends at the family camp "The Hard Heads" in Port Eads.
Traveling was another love of his. His favorite travels took him to Swan Lake, Maine. He loved eating Maine lobster as much as he loved sipping on his Bud Light beer.
In addition, he enjoyed watching LSU and Saints football on TV and challenging himself with computer solitaire games, while his fur babies Layla and Belle cheered him on.
As Irving Berlin says, "The song is ended but the melody lingers on". A celebration of John’s life will be held in the near future.
