Joey Thomas Husser (“Uncle Jo Jo”), born on December 31st, 1959, in Independence, Louisiana, passed away on May 27th, 2026, in Bedico, Louisiana peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Joey loved watching Nascar races, making wooden toys, fishing, football, and riding his golf cart.

Joey was known for his humor, his ability to create wooden toys from pieces of scrap wood and doing anything outdoors. His love of fishing was a time of peace and reflection for him, and he often enjoyed the excitement of a good football game. His presence will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Joey is survived by his stepfather, Louis Meyers Jr.; his brothers, Johnny Husser (Josephine), Frankie Husser (Brenda), Marvin Husser, and half-brother Donald Fernandez (Barbara); his half-sister, Mattie Norwood; his stepsisters, Marlene Sharp (Dale), Carolyn Cooper (Charles), Gayle Bond (Greg), and Connie Byers (Randy); and his stepbrothers, Gerry Meyers (Edith Faye) and Larry Meyers.

He was a beloved uncle to Vernon Fernandez (JoAnn), Ricky Fernandez, Robert Husser (Allie), Aaron Husser (Elizabeth), Mark Husser, Lacey Husser, Stasha Husser (Ethan), Ashley Viola (John), Brigitte Kuhn, Lisa Kuhn, Ashley Moore (Shane), Stacey Raiford (Steven), Amie Badon (Mike), Ashley Scuderi (Jeffery), Penny Yent, RandiLynn Byers, Gerry Meyers II (Tammy), Matthew Cooper, Chad Yent (Leslie), Cory Yent (Shyanna), Clayton Yent (Tabitha), Logan Gilliland, and Daniel Byers.

He was a cherished great-uncle to Paige Kinchen (Colby), Justin Fernandez (Tyler), Collin Fernandez, Lindsay Fernandez, Dewayne Bertaut, Corey Bertaut, Iris Husser, Breigh Husser, Ryan Kuhn (Jaelyn), Braxton Viola, Kinsley Viola, Rylan Meyers, Bryson Meyers, Caleb Moore, Cole Raiford (Andrea), Jayce Cooper, Henry Cooper, Colby Yent (Elizabeth), Coltin Yent, Cruz Yent, Wyatt Scuderi, Waylon Scuderi, Wade Scuderi, Cayleb Yent, Raven Kuhn, Kayleigh Moore, Kyleigh Moore, Madison Raiford, Kerrie Raiford, and Myah Cooper. 

He was also a proud great-great-uncle to Jase Strickland, Conner Strickland, Brenden Kinchen, Bodie Kinchen, Alden Sticker, Haisley Kuhn, Skylyn Kuhn, and Ceanna Yent. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Meyers; his father, Marvin Thomas Husser; and his nieces and nephews, Melissa Allato, Lance and Karson Husser, Gary and Quintin Kuhn.

Family and friends are welcomed to attend a Graveside Service on June 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bedico Cemetery. Celebration of life to follow at the home of Frankie and Brenda Husser.
