Jerry A. Melerine

Jerry Anthony Melerine, of Delacroix Island, LA., age 82, was called home to heaven on March 24, 2023, with his family by his side. He is survived by his sons Darryn and Chad Melerine and the proud Grandfather of Ashtyn, Falyn, Shiloh and Cayden Melerine.

He was the son of the late Anthony "Tony" and Leonicia Campo Melerine and loving brother of the late Clinton “Buddy” (Anna) Melerine, the late Daniel Melerine, the late Landry (Theda) Lutchie (Judy) Melerine, the late Morris (Doll) Melerine, the late Lorraine and (Arthur) Perez. Jerry was also the beloved Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jerry had many dear friends that he considered family. He loved them all very deeply. He’ll be forever cherished and greatly missed by all who knew him.

He loved cooking, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with his family. He was known for cooking a feast that would rival any executive chef. His yard on Riverbend Dr. was a known spectacle which included an Oak Tree that he named “Fred”.  Fred had an assortment of hanging fixtures of plants and flowers while the tree base, slate patio, and walkways were bordered with beautiful greenery from fern to the amazing color of bird of paradise.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on April 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church located at 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA, 70085 followed by a seafood boil at the residence of Phillip and Pam Mones immediately following services located at 2828 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA 70085.
