Jeannette Louise Morie Dodson

January 8, 1953 — May 16, 2025

Covington, Louisiana

Jeannette Louise Morie Dodson, “Mrs. Nette,” passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at her daughter’s home, where she had been surrounded by love in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 72. Jeannette was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend.

Jeannette was born to the late John Daniel “JD” Logan and Josephine Maria “Dolly” Carrabella Quigley on January 8, 1953. She was later adopted by the late JB and Helen Morie and became a native of Clute, Texas. She was the sister to Jeff Morie, James Quigley and the late Diann Logan Ramsdell and Robert Logan.

Her loving husband, David Artrelle Dodson, has been awaiting her arrival in Heaven and we rejoice that they are together again.

Jeannette leaves behind many friends and family who will miss her but her legacy will live on through her daughters Tosha Smelley, Tanya Williams, Trisha Dawsey and her beloved son-in-law Stephen Dawsey. She will also live on in the hearts of her grandchildren Brittany Durham (Dustin), Brad Smelley (Haley), Kirstin “Lexi” Byron (Austin), Briar Williams (Rebecca), Kenzie Grim (Malique), Keegan Dawsey (Lexie), Hannah Williams (Roy) and eight great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at New Zion Baptist Church in the little fellowship hall on June 7, 2025 from 1pm to 3pm. A graveside interment will be held at Gum Springs Cemetery in Flynn, Texas at a later date.
