Jean Margaret Morang

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jean Margaret Guimont Morang on the 12th of February, 2026, age 91.

Jean was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Lawrence Edmond Guimont and Yvonne Odile Maurice on the 14th of February, 1934. Her parents instilled in her the importance of faith, alongside her siblings, Lawrence Guimont (Lynn), Darryl Guimont, Betty Rousseau (Donald), Yvonne Flot (Carroll), Alden Guimont, and Marilyn Sorapuru (Rodney)

It was in Los Angeles, California that she started a family of her own. Though she and Robert Louis Morang eventually separated, they managed to work together to raise wonderful children, Sharon Ann Morang, Roxanne Maria (Don), Robert Louis Morang Jr. (Deceased), and Michael Andre Morang (Beverly). Jean's family would grow larger with the addition of four grandchildren, Mackenzie Jean Gardner, Donald Joseph Jackson, Melissa Christine Jackson, and Jacqueline Marie Holcomb. It would grow yet again with four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Michael Holcomb, Brookelynn Mackenzie Holcomb, Lacey Marie Holcomb, and Tyler Carson Trahan.

Jean dedicated her life to the gospel as a member of the Third Order of Carmelites. In addition to a life of prayer, she enjoyed music, perfecting the art of cooking, and drawing the things she saw in day to day life.

A time and place for Jean Morang's memorial mass will be announced at a later date.
