Jason Chaney

Apr 4, 1977 — Jul 10, 2026

Covington, Louisiana

With broken hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Jason “Cotton” Chaney, who left us far too soon on July 10, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 49. Born April 4, 1977, in Hammond, Louisiana, Jason’s journey through life was marked by the warmth he brought to every room, his unmistakable sense of humor, and the steadfast love he extended to his family and friends.

Jason is preceded in death by his father Ronald Chaney and his mother Christine Chaney, as well as his beloved grandmother Mary Lloyd and the mother of his son Mandy Spell. Through all life’s seasons, both joyous and sorrowful, Jason carried their memory close, honoring them in every thoughtful action and gentle word.

Jason leaves behind his loving children: his son Cole Chaney (Taylor) and his daughter Sarah Chaney, as well as his stepchildren Christie McLain and Ashley McLain. The sunlight of a new generation shone on Jason through his five grandchildren, whose smiles and hugs were among his most treasured gifts.

Jason was a hard worker and in his spare time he enjoyed boiling crawfish and shrimp, cooking Bar B Que, singing Karaoke, playing pool and playing cornhole. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends that always knew he would be there for them if they were ever in need.

Though Jason’s physical presence has departed this world, the indelible mark he left on the hearts of family and friends endures. His laughter echoes in cherished memories, his resilience inspires ongoing strength, and his love binds those he leaves behind even more closely together.

To honor Jason’s life, visitation will be held on July 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m., both at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Rd, Covington, LA 70435. All whose lives were touched by Jason are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the extraordinary person he was.

He leaves us now to join those gone before him in eternal peace, but his legacy of compassion, love, and joyful remembrance will forever remain with those who called him son, father, grandfather, and friend.
