James "Eddy" Nold

James “Eddy” Nold or known to many as “Ed”,“Chicken Ed”, Daddy, or Grandpa passed away on
Thursday, May 11 th , 2023 at the age of 73.
Ed was born in Selmer, Tennessee on October 21 st , 1949 to father James “JC” Nold and mother Herta N
Bresko. He was the oldest of 4 children. Ed joined the Army right after high school. He served his country
for over 9 years. He retired as a Staff Sergeant after serving during war time in Vietnam. During his years
of service, he was stationed all over the world including Korea, Germany, Alaska, California, and Virginia.
He gained an array of awards during his years of service.
After his military service he moved back to Virginia with his wife, Eva. They had married during his
service time. Although, he had met her way before then as she was the girl living next door to him
growing up. He had various jobs after leaving the military including working at WCI Prison in Angie,LA,
the Postal Service in Covington, LA, and owning his own construction company General Contracting.
There was not a job that Ed could not do. He had an artistic ability and loved painting pictures for his
family and later to sell in the local community. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 states with his
grandchildren, watching the Saints, grilling, drinking black coffee, and chatting with anyone that would
lend an ear. He was an avid collector of coins.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother- John “Johnny” Nold, and 1 son in law William
“Rankin” Stogner. He is survived by his wife Eva Rivers Nold, 2- Sisters- Debbie Edwards (Sam), and Lynn
Nold. 2 daughters- Heather Snyder (Roy) and Jamie Williams (Jody). 4 Grandchildren- Jennifer Penton
(John), Paige Nold (Grey), Kyle Bordelon (Leslie), and Mckenzie Williams and, 2 Great Grandchildren,
Rylee Mitchell and Memphis Penton.
A graveside service with Military Honors is set to be held Friday, May 19 th , 2023 at 1:30PM at Southeast
Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell,LA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20 th , 2023 at
4:00pm at Honey’s Grill in Sun, LA.
The family would like to thank the staff of Northshore EMS and St. Tammany Parish Hospital for their
efforts.
