July 17, 1936 — February 19, 2026

Mandeville, Louisiana

James Terrance Locascio Sr. (Jimmy, Pops, PawPaw Bud), a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, was born on July 17, 1936. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Lakeview Hospital on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 89.

Jimmy was a member of the ILA 3000 and worked as a Longshoreman for over 30 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve, carrying with him the discipline and loyalty that defined so much of his life.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn Oswald Locascio and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was Dad. He was Pops. And you always knew where you stood with him.

An avid fisherman, Jimmy was forever in search of his favorite catch — the speckled trout — and swore by grass shrimp for bait. Thanksgiving was a family tradition filled with shucking oysters for dressing, though more than a few never made it to the pot. There were countless memories on Mercier Street — boiling crawfish, eating Pops’ barbecued chicken, and gathering with extended family. Camping trips to Money Hill remain treasured memories. Later in life, Jimmy enjoyed trying his luck at the casinos.

What a life. What great times.

Jimmy is survived by his children: Joseph T. Locascio (Susan), Lorrie Locascio Worthy (Edmund), and James T. Locascio Jr. (David R. Gonzales); his grandchildren: Kaitlin L. Locascio (Dunc T. Fulton), J. Kyle Locascio, Amanda Worthy Briganti (Edward), and Ashley Worthy Brewer (Heather); and his great- grandchildren: June Hazel Fulton-Locascio, Myra Monroe Fulton-Locascio, Julia Ann Briganti, Benjamin Michael Briganti, and Hallie Grace Briganti. He is also survived by his sisters: Judy Voelker (Joe), Janice St. Philip (Chuck), and Joycelyn Storniolo, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Locascio; stepmother, Eugenia B. Locascio; mother, Evelyn Saunders Locascio; brother, Jessie J. Locascio (Celie); and sister, Jean Kaufmann.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, PAs, nurses, and staff at Lakeview Hospital in Covington for their compassionate care.
